Welcome To the Baglamukhi Dham

Ancient Tantric scriptures mention the “Dashamahavidyas” or ten great wisdom goddesses. These are: 1. Kali, 2. Tara, 3. Shodashi, 4. Bhuvaneshwari, 5. Chhinnamasta, 6. Tripur Bhairavi, 7. Dhumavati, 8. Baglamukhi, 9. Matangi, and 10. Kamala. Each of these goddesses holds unique significance in spiritual practice. However, among all, Maa Bhagwati Shri Baglamukhi is considered particularly special.

Maa Baglamukhi is the eighth of the ten Mahavidyas. She is also known as Maa Pitambara. She is the force behind all vibrations and energies in the universe. This form of the goddess represents the fierce and intense aspect of Goddess Parvati. Maa Baglamukhi is associated with the color yellow, radiating a yellow aura, and thus, the color yellow plays a significant role in her worship. She is revered as the goddess of “stambhana shakti,” which is the power to immobilize or paralyze.

The name “Baglamukhi” derives from the Sanskrit word “Valga,” which means “bridle” or “rein,” symbolizing control. According to the Kubjika Tantra, the name “Bagla” is composed of three letters: ‘Va,’ ‘Ga,’ and ‘La.’ The letter ‘Va’ represents Varuni (divine power), ‘Ga’ signifies Siddhida (bestower of success), and ‘La’ refers to Earth. Therefore, due to her divine beauty and power to control, Maa Baglamukhi is named so.It is said that those who worship Maa Baglamukhi with full faith and devotion are blessed by her, fulfilling their desires and protecting them from enemies by destroying their adversaries.
